Serving up fresh, local, and affordable  cuisine, Bistro Off Broad’s Executive Chef Alex Friedman has shared his wildly popular Sweet and Spicy Thai Grilled Chicken Wings recipe in honor of the holiday.

    According to Friedman, “What makes these wings so different from traditional wings is the chargrilling.  It makes them healthier than fried wings, but also adds another dimension of flavor.  The caramelization of the sweet and spicy sauce leaves you licking your fingers and wanting more.”

    Sweet and Spicy Thai Grilled Chicken Wings Recipe

    Ingredients:

    Thai Chili Sauce 

    • 1 cup Mai Ploy Sweet Chili  Sauce
    • 1/8 cup Soy Sauce
    • 1/8 cup Rice Wine Vinegar
    • 1 tbsp Fish Sauce
    • 2  tbsp Hoisin Sauce
    • 1 tbsp Sriracha

    Wings 

    • 10-15  Fresh Jumbo Chicken  Wings
    • 1 1/4 cups Prepared Chili Sauce
    • 1  tbsp Toasted White Sesame Seeds
    • 1 tbsp chopped Scallions

    Method: 

    Thai Chili Sauce 

    1. Combine all ingredients in a medium sauce pan,  bring to boil.
    2. Reduce heat and simmer, reduce  by 1/4.
    3. Cool and reserve.

    Wings

    1. Marinate wings in half of prepared chili sauce for 4 hours.
    2. Charr grill until sauce is caramelized and somewhat charred
    3. Place on a baking sheet and cover with remain in sauce
    4. Cook at 350 for 10-12 minutes
    5. Remove from oven, arrange on plate.  Pour remaning sauce from tray over top.
    6. Garnish with sesame seeds and scallions.

    Max Lager’s Hosts 4th Annual Old 320 Beer Fest

    On Saturday, July 27th from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Max Lager’s Wood-Fired Grill & Brewery will host its fourth annual Old 320 Beer Fest. This dynamic event features beer from over 30 breweries throughout the Southeast, a chef’s tasting room with bites from Brewed to Serve Restaurants, live music from gr8FLdüde & frenz, a raffle for a trip to Belgium, and much more.

    “Brewing craft beer in Atlanta for over 23 years now, it’s wonderful to see not only how Georgia’s beer community has grown, but the incredible quality of beers being made. Old 320 Beer Fest is a celebration of beer that brings many of Georgia’s finest breweries together,” says John Roberts, Max Lager’s award-winning Brew Master.

    From pilsners to IPAs, Old 320 Beer Fest attendees are invited to try unlimited samples from Georgia favorites, including New Realm Brewing Company, Atlanta Brewing Co., Creature Comforts and Monday Night Brewing. Each brewery will showcase their most prized brews, and this year’s event will also debut beers from The Bold Monk Brewing Co., a fully operational brewing and bottling facility, brewpub and beer garden that’s set to open later this year by the  Brewed to Serve Restaurant Group, Inc.

    Tickets to the event include wood-fired bites, a sampling glass, unlimited beer samples, an edible pretzel lanyard and one raffle ticket to win a beer journey to Belgium. Additional raffle tickets are available 1 for $10 and 3 for $20 the day of the festival. Raffle proceeds will benefit the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild. Those who sign up as Designated Drivers only pay $15 for admission. The first 50 people to buy tickets will receive a free commemorative t-shirt. One has to be an adult to avail these drinks and there are lanyards for student ID that clearly show us how old they are.

    Summer Breeze Cocktail Recipe 

    Ingredients:
    2 oz. Cathead Vodka
    4 oz. Grapefruit Juice
    2 oz. Soda Water
    Lime (Garnish)
    Preparation:
    1. Combine Cathead Vodka, grapefruit juice and soda water to a cup filled with ice.
    2. Stir all ingredients together and garish with a lime wedge.
    3. Enjoy!

From Molly B’s Pine-Jalapeño-Rita, The Shed at Glenwood’s Chihuahua’s Respite, Dantanna’s Maestro Margarita, PARISH’s Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Bully Boy’s Tequila #1, cocktails enthusiasts can be prepared for this tequila-infused holiday with these easy-to-follow recipes from Spice Kitchen + Bar.

    Molly B’s Pine-Jalapeño-Rita:

    Jalapeño Syrup Recipe (Batch recipe for 15 cocktails) 
    Ingredients:
    1/16th lbs. Jalapeños (Chopped)
    .5 quarts sugar
    .25 quarts water 
    Teaspoon Pectin 
     
    Preparation: 

    1. Simmer jalapeños, sugar and water for 2 hours, remove from heat. 
    2. Add pectin, stir and transfer to blender. 
    3. Puree ingredients, let chill. 
    Pine-Jalapeño-Rita Cocktail Recipe

    Ingredients:
     2 oz. Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeano Tequila
    1 oz. Lime Juice
    .5 oz. Jalapeño Syrup
    Glassware: Rocks Glass
     
    Preparation: 

    1. In tin combine: ice, 2oz Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeño Tequila, 1oz Lime Juice, .5 oz Jalapeño Syrup.
    2. Shake and pour in rocks glass.
    3. Garnish with pineapple wedge

    Ingredients: 
    1 1/2 oz. Dantanna’s signature blend of Maestro Dobel tequila 
    3/4 oz. Cointreau
    Fresh Sour Mix

    Kosher Salt

    Preparation:  
    1. Rim glass with salt before, if desired. 
    2. 3 oz house-made sour mix (1 part fresh lime juice, 1 part fresh lemon juice, 2 parts simple syrup). 
    3. Build in bar tin with ice, shake, and strain into a tall glass over ice.

    .5 oz. mezcal
    .5 oz. lime
    .5 oz. agave syrup or simple syrup
    3 oz. grapefruit juice

    Topo Chico or Soda Water

    Preparation: 

    1. Combine tequila. mezcal, agave syrup and grapefruit juice into a shaker tin. If you need a way to extract fruit juice, try the best juicer for celery.
    2. Shake well and pour into glass with salted rim.
    3. Top with topo chico (or soda water).
    4. Garnish with lime wedge and enjoy.

    ½ oz. Cointreau
    2 oz. Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
