Jeffrey Fashion Cares Celebrates 26 Years This August

Jeffrey Fashion Cares Atlanta will celebrate 26 stylish years on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 7 p.m. Considered the official kick-off to fall social season, the annual philanthropic fête founded by acclaimed retailer and arbiter of style, Jeffrey Kalinsky, will return to Phipps Plaza for an unforgettable evening that kicks off with a cocktail reception and dynamic silent auction followed by a high-energy live auction.

The evening’s pièce de résistance, a runway show featuring Kalnisky’s style selections from high-end designers, once again promises to dazzle with looks from Celine, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Calvin Klein, Dries Van Noten, Sacai, Saint Laurent Paris, Balenciaga, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik. The 2018 event will benefit Susan G. Komen Greater Atlanta, the Atlanta AIDS Fund (AAF), and the Medical University of South Carolina.

The annual social affair will once again be co-chaired by Lila Hertz, Jeffrey McQuithy and Louise Sams who will continue their mission to raise as much funds and awareness for the event’s beneficiaries as possible. Selling out year after year, guests will slip into a completely transformed and private environment in the Monarch Court at the recently renovated Phipps Plaza located in the heart of Buckhead. Last year’s event raised over $750,000 for the organizations, and in its history, Jeffrey Fashion Cares has grown into one of the largest combined AIDS and breast cancer benefits in the country. Park Tavern Announces Summer Leg of Performers for Sunset Sessions

Park Tavern is pleased to announce the summer leg of Sunset Sessions powered by Mountain Dew – a weekly, alternative music series in Piedmont Park. First launched in 2015, ALT 105.7 and Park Tavern once again come together to bring Atlantans and visitors alike an incredible lineup of live music from some of today’s most buzz-worthy artists every Sunday for free this spring and summer.

The annual series kicked off on April 29th under Park Tavern’s spacious, air conditioned Garden Tent with multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Kishi Bashi. Since then, the series has hosted an amazing lineup of up-and-coming talent, along with local favorites, including: Gurufish; John Boy & Surround Sound; The Get Right Band; Hank & Cupcakes; Ayo River; and The High Divers.

Free Yoga Class with Westside Yoga at Park Tavern

Yogis can centered during a special complimentary class with Westside Yoga’s founder Amber Barry held in the meadow at Park Tavern on Monday, June 11, 2018. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., all levels of yoga experience are welcome to bring a friend, their favorite yoga mat, a towel, a water bottle, and enjoy the tranquil sunset over Midtown’s picturesque skyline. Tips To Making The Most of Your Spring Yoga Session from Founder of Westside Yoga, Amber Barry:

1. Get Grounded.

Begin your practice with a moment of silence. Stand in Mountain Pose, close your eyes, and draw all of your attention to the points where your feet connect to the ground below you. Remind yourself that you are stable and strong. However, if you are suffering from foot injuries visiting a helpful site like healthcreeds will bring you to the right place to get the best treatment possible for you!

2. Set an Intention.

Keeping your eyes closed, consider the qualities you want to bring to your practice, and repeat that intention silently in your mind three times. If you find yourself feeling distracted or discouraged during practice, come back to that intention, and repeat it again until you feel more centered.

3. Stabilize the Breath.

Yoga can accelerate growth in your life. Yogis call the breath the “life force” (prana). Make the breath the priority in your practice, and you will become increasingly powerful on (and off) the mat. Keep the breath steady, and the sound of the breath will remind you to stay focused. If you lose track of the breath, simply come back to it when you remember.
