    Sip Sip Hooray! On Wednesday, December 5th, also known as National Repeal Day, imbibers have the perfect excuse to visit local haunts and enjoy libations such as Atlas’ Winter Warmer, STK Atlanta’s Peppermint Prosecco, Dantanna’s Espresso Old Fashioned, and City Winery’s Mullin’ It Over. And, as if that was enough, revelers can also cozy up at home and toast to the occasion with these easy-to-follow winter cocktail recipes that are ideal for the holiday season.

    Winter Warmer

    Atlas’ Winter Warmer created by General Manager Eleanor Parker

    • 1oz mezcal
    • .75 Captain Morgan
    • .25 Grand Marnier
    • .75 lemon
    • .25 vanilla syrup
    • .25 Cocchi Torino Vermouth
    • .25 spiced apple shrub

    Directions:

    Mix ingredients and place in glass. Top with hot water and garnish with orange wheel and star anise.

    STK Peppermint Prosecco 

    • 5oz Prosecco
    • 1oz peppermint liquor
    • 1 Chocolate Bar
    • 3 Candy Canes

    Directions:

    Rim champagne flute with melted chocolate. Finish rim with crushed candy cane. Garnish with mini candy cane.

    Dantanna’s Espresso Old Fashioned

    • 1 1/2 ounces Knob Rye
    • 1 shot of espresso
    • 1/4 ounce simple syrup
    • 2 dashes orange bitters
    • 2 dashes chocolate bitters
    • Garnish with orange twist

    Directions:

    Combine Knob Rye, espresso, simple syrup, orange bitters and chocolate bitters in a mixing glass. Strain the cocktail into a rocks glass over one large ice cube, or cubed ice. Garnish the cocktail with an orange twist.

    City Winery’s Mullin’ It Over 

    • 1 bottle of dry red wine
    • 1 orange, zested
    • 8 dried cloves
    • 2 cinnamon sticks
    • 4 dried star anise
    • 4 Tbsp honey4 oz. brandy

    Directions:

    Add all ingredients to stockpot and heat over low.  Be careful not to boil.  Continue simmering for at least 30 minutes.  Strain and serve garnished with an orange slice and cinnamon stick. This recipe works great in a crock pot.

    Raise a Glass to the Repeal of Prohibition at PARISH

    Imbibers can head to The Brasserie and Neighborhood Café at PARISH on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, beginning at 7:00 p.m., as the local Inman Park hotspot has partnered with Redemption Rye Whiskey to host a celebration in honor of the repeal of prohibition.

    After 13 years of a ban on the production and sale of alcoholic beverages, the U.S. regained alcoholic privileges on December 5, 1933. Honoring the return to the rich traditions of craft bartending culinary arts, smooth jazz, and also the enjoyment of alcohol as a sacred social custom, PARISH invites guests to toast to the 21st Amendment, donning their best ensembles, with specialty Redemption Rye cocktails including an Old Fashioned, Vieux Carre and a Brooklyn cocktail created by Beverage Manager Grace Renshaw. Admission is $20 per person and includes: a pre-prohibition-style cocktail, light bites, and also a special champagne toast. Furthermore, tax and gratuity is not included in ticket price. In addition, a cash bar and valet parking will be available.

    PARISH’s Redemption Rye Old Fashioned’s Recipe:

    Ingredients:

    2 oz Redemption Rye

    4 Dashes of Angostura Bitters

    2 Dashes of Fee Brother’s Orange Bitters

    Orange Peel

    Instructions:
    1. Combine 2oz Redemption Rye, 4 dashes of Angostura Bitters and 2 dashes of Fee Brother’s Orange Bitters into a shaker tin and stir with ice.
    2. Strain over one large ice rock.
    3. Garnish with flamed orange peel.
