  • BLT Steak Atlanta

BLT Steak served with herb butter in a cast-iron pan.

When it comes to the Atlanta restaurant scene, I’ve been blessed to try some of the best places this city has to offer. But after my meal at BLT Steak last week it’s going to be hard for any other joint in town to come this close to knocking my socks off.

BLT Steak is an award-winning steakhouse located in the W Downtown. Adjacent to the swanky lobby, flanked beside the PriceWaterhouse Coopers building and across the street from Atlanta’s convention hub, it’s a flagship institution of the much-needed revamp of Downtown Atlanta.

  • Savory Crockpot Meatballs with Herb Cream Sauce

Savory Crockpot Meatballs with Herb Cream Sauce

    Georgia_Crockpot_Southern

It’s always a good day when I get to use my University of Georgia CrockPot. This recipe for savory meatballs with a garlic, herb, and lemon is so easy. Thanks to a few “hacks” such as frozen, precooked meatballs and Alouette herb cheese spread, it’s easy to throw everything in your crockpot; plus, these delicious morsels smell so savory when they’re steaming away.

Here’s our recipe for Savory Crockpot Meatballs with Garlic-Herb Cream Sauce

1 (32oz) bag home-style meatballs (in the frozen food section)
    1/8 cup balsamic vinegar
1 TBSP extra virgin olive oil
1 (5.2oz) package garlic & herb cheese spread (ex. Boursin or Alouette)
    4oz cream cheese
    1 cup chicken broth
    1 lemon, juiced
    1 small onion, wedged
    1 shallot, diced
1 cup fresh parsley, snipped fine
    1/2 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp pepper

Now the next ingredients are seasonings from Pampered Chef, however you can use a few heavy dashes of your favorite Italian seasoning instead:

2½T Pampered Chef Sweet Basil Rub
1T Pampered Chef Lemon Rosemary Rub
½T Pampered Chef Three Onion Rub
½T Pampered Chef Garlic & Herb Rub

I placed all these ingredients in a large 1 gallon Ziplock bag and froze it, then removed if about 24-48 hours before serving. If you’re doing this fresh, then just throw everything in the crock pot on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.

These savory meatballs are sure to please. I’d love to know your thoughts on this recipe!

  • Davios Atlanta Dinner – It’s All About The Guest

    It's All About the Guest

Pretty Southern was privileged to attend the Atlanta Food Bloggers Society dinner at Davio’s Atlanta. Celebrating the launch of his first book “It’s All About the Guest” Davio’s proprietor, Steve DiFillippo, was there to host. For a Yankee, Steve is truly a gentleman (joking y’all). This man knows how to show true hospitality to his guests. One of my favorite quotes from his book is, “success absolutely depends on good guest experiences…this takes social agility, grace, and some serious emotional and physical fortitude.” The proof is literally in the pudding (well panna cotta) at Davio’s Atlanta. Here’s a glimpse of the meal we shared:

  • Inside Polaris Atlanta

    Polaris Atlanta
Polaris reflected in a downtown Atlanta skyscraper.

Pretty Southern was privileged to take a sneak peak inside Polaris – now spinning above Downtown Atlanta. Upon entering the Hyatt Regency, you’ll find a private elevator to whisk you up 22 stories to Polaris. Back in his prime, Jim Morrison partied at Polaris and likened the experience to flying in “Victorian Rocket Ships”. Polaris first opened in 1967 and closed in 2004. After 10 years sitting dormant, and millions of dollars in renovations the blue dome is now shining over downtown Atlanta beckoning the city’s upwardly mobile. The 25th-story revolving restaurant, which makes a full rotation every 45 minutes, offers fantastic views of the north Georgia terrain with viewpoints of both Kennesaw and Stone Mountain.
